Sadhguru visited NIMS University for his Save Soil mission.
Save Soil Mission
Mother earth has become vulnerable because of our ignorance, and the pollution done by us. The soil has become weak, and the minerals present in the soil are depleting day by day.
Famous yogi, mystic and visionary Sadhguru is on a motorcycle ride from UK to India covering 30,000 kilometres to spread awareness on saving soil. To raise awareness on this issue, Sadhguru is on a journey to spread the message throughout the globe.
On his journey, he made a pit stop at the NIMSUniversity and personally greeted the students and told them about the importance of soil. Sadhguru arrived on the NIMS campus on 5th June, communicated with the students, and shared the cause of his journey. In his speech, he told the students the ways through which they contribute to the cause 'save soil'.
During his visit to the NIMS University Sadhguru met the NIMS Chairman, Prof (Dr) Balvir Singh Tomar and shared his concern on the issue. During their conversation, Dr Tomar announced the opening of a facility on the NIMS campus dedicated to the research on soil conservation. Contributing to the cause, Dr Tomar announced the opening of the Institute of Soil Research and Conservation and presented a memento to Sadhguru.
In his speech, Dr Tomar said, "He is a very influential personality, and I am grateful that he made a pit stop at the University and motivated the students. I am very thankful to him as I could see the amount of positivity on the campus because of his arrival. I also feel proud in announcing that he spoke the slogan 'One NIMS, One World'."
How can we save soil?
Soil erosion is done by various means. Some of the important and bigger means are heavy winds, deforestation, heavy rainfall, overgrazing, and expanding infrastructure. We can save the erosion of soil by working on the means of soil erosion. For example, if we give space of garden in our personal premises we can contribute in saving soil.
Deforestation
We know that deforestation is one of the biggest reasons of soil erosion, and if we want to save the soil, we must work on afforestation at the earliest. Conserving our remaining forests and taking care of them can help in the cause of soil erosion.
Heavy rainfall
Sometimes heavy rainfalls erode the soil because of the lack of trees. If we plant more trees in our neighbourhood, we can save the erosion of soil as the roots of the trees hold up the soil. Trees can also help in the case of strong winds.
